Please take note of the following:

Only one active booking allowed per *account at a time.

If you make more than one booking, only the first booking will be accepted.

No refunds will be given if you made more than one booking.

*account = created with your own email address during registration

If the renewal was unsuccessful at the first booking, you may then make a second booking.

General questions about this service:

During the term 1998 to 2003 citizens had an opportunity to convert from the driving license pasted in their ID books to the driving license card format. The majority failed to do so and lengthy queues resulted countrywide in early 2003 to convert else, an existing driving license would be cancelled. The majority of those who converted late (early 2003), actually returned in unbelievable numbers during early, 2008, 2013 and now 2018. Adding to the then “driving license population” the numbers of license holders increased substantially over the last fifteen years. Unbearable queuing time to renew became the norm over all years in between as well. So to resolve the 5-year cycle peaks the time for online appointments made sense to enhance service delivery. The courier delivery option is intended to offer convenience for those who cannot afford the time wasted to return and queue again for the collection.

If you are a holder of a valid South African drivers licence, which is about to expire, or already expired, you can use this service.

This is not for: First time licence test, learners licence tests, or for the renewals of Professional Drivers Permits. Although we would like to add this at a later stage, we can not help you at this stage.

At the moment we are only in Gauteng:

If you want to do your renewal at any of the available test stations, you are welcome to do so. As renewal is national, it doesn’t matter where you live.

However, please keep in mind that you have to attend the booking yourself. You will also have to collect your new card. We do suggest opting for delivery of your new card if you live far away.

Do not wait until the last minute to make a booking.

Our available bookings are open for two month slots.

As slots get filled up quickly, please try and book as soon as we open up a particular month.

Example: If your licence expires end of July, you will want to have a booking before end July. Bookings for July will be open from the first week of June.

Please try to make bookings ahead of time. We can not be held responsible if you do not get a booking before your licence expires.

There is also no limitation on when you renew your still valid licence. If you want to renew e.g. 6 months before your licence expires, you are welcome to do so. Although there is a 5 year validity on the licence card, nothing stops you to renew sooner.

Each test station has their own operating hours. Please check on the website for dates and times applicable to the test station you want to visit.

Saturday bookings: This is only available at Centurion. ( There is an additinal council fee of R300 to visit the test station on a Saturday. )

Please note that booking slots are for 30min. We are permitted to book 5 clients per consultant in a 30 min period. Although most clients report being helped within 10 to 15 min, please allow at least 30 min for the appointment.

If you hold a valid booking, and the test station can not help you, they will make alternative arrangements with our clients and have dedicated consultants to help.

If you decide to go on another date / time, you will have to join the normal queues. If you arrive more than 15 min early, they will not let you into the building until at least 15 min prior to your appointment. We have clients who made bookings for afternoon slots and arrived in the morning demanding to be assisted. This will not be accepted and you will have to join the normal queues..

Due to restrictions we can not accept payment for certain fees on this website.

Delivery: This is paid on the website when making your booking. If you do not opt for delivery while making a booking, we can not add delivery afterwards.

Please note that no refund will be given if you did not take requirements with you.

You do not have to take photographs with you, unless you need a temporary licence. If this case, you have to take one black & white ID photo with you.

To help reduce the queues and long waiting times, we have come to an agreement with the Licencing Department that our clients will take a valid eye test with them.

If you do not have a valid eye test, you will cause delays for our other clients. Furthermore the Licencing Department will then have you queue with all other clients in the normal queues to process your eye test.

A valid eye test is an eye test performed by a qualified optometrist, and the eye test certificate may not be older than 3 months

Questions: ID & Drivers Licence

If your surname changed, you will need your new ID book/card, or a temporary ID document, which reflects your new surname.

There is no penalty at present for expired drivers licences. Please renew as soon as possible.

You will also have to get a temporary licence when you go for you renewal appointment.(same appointment)

Make sure you have a valid form of identification with you (expired drivers licence is not a valid form of identification)

Please note that if your card is expired, you are driving illegally, and we can only advice not to drive until you have done your renewal.

Please renew as soon as possible.

If you do the renewal before the current licence expires, you may drive with a combination of the old licence and receipt for the renewal, for 60 days.

Example renewal is done on 20 May. Licence expires 31 May. You may drive with your old licence, and the receipt for the renewal, until 20 July without being penalised by the traffic department.

You may apply using your passport, as long as your passport is still valid.

You may also tender a certified copy of your ID as long as the certification was done in the last three months.

If your ID is lost/stolen, and your drivers licence is still valid, they can use your current valid drivers licence as form of identification.

Please make a booking as soon as possible.

You will also have to get a temporary licence when you go for your appointment.

Make sure you have a valid form of identification with you eg ID document.

Refunds

No-shows: If you do not attend your appointment/booking/test, no refund will be given. If you know that you will not be able to attend your booking/appointment/test, please contact us at least 72 hours before the booking/appointment/test to reschedule. We will cancel your booking and if you paid for shipping, issue you with a coupon for shipping towards the new booking.

Council: Referral: If the council are not able to help you on the day of your booking/appointment/test, they will reschedule it for you. If you need any further assistance with this, please contact our offices. Please note that refunds will not be given, as they do offer rescheduling of appointments/bookings/tests. They do have an arrangement with us that they will help our clients in the 5 working days following the event and restoration of services. Clients do not have to rebook.

More than one active booking on our system: You may not hold more than one active booking on our system. The council will only honor the first booking you made. You may only book again after a unsuccessful attempt. If you did make more than one booking, no refund will be given for additional bookings.

General questions delivery:

You may opt to collect your card from the test station, or have it delivered to your chosen address.

Please make sure to choose the correct option during the booking process. We can not change this once the booking is made.

Unfortunately, once the booking is made, we can not add delivery afterwards. However, you may contact us to request cancellation of the first booking, after which you may then rebook. Please note that by following this route, we can not secure the original booking slot you had.

If you did opt for delivery, but do not want it anymore, please advice us beforehand. We close the system 3 days before the booking takes place. If we were not advised, your card will be processed for delivery.

Although we are working together with the licencing department to reduce the queues, we can not track the progress of the new card being issued.

It takes approx 6 weeks for new cards to be issued ( but it could be quicker or even take longer ). If you opted for delivery and have not heard from us after 8 weeks, please contact us on this E-mail:

As soon as the new card is printed, the client receives a sms to say the new card is ready. But from here the card then gets send to the test station.

Once received by the test station, they then process the cards.

Only when this is done, we receive an email weekly to say that there are cards to be collected in bulk.

Our driver collects the cards, and we then have to process the bulk cards: add to the system, printing of waybills and put them all in envelopes.

When we are done, Collivery collect the cards from us, and have to process on their side.

Collivery will then email each client with details for delivery.

We can not track the progress of the new card being issued.

It takes approx 6 – 8 weeks for new cards to be issued ( but it could be quicker or even take longer ).

You will receive a sms when the card is issued. You will have to collect your card from the test station. Make sure to take your ID and renewal receipt with you.

If you did not receive an sms after weeks, you may contact the test station and inquire about your new drivers licence card.

Due to logistical reasons, we can not help you with delivery if you went on a different date or time than what you actually booked for.

If you decide to go on a different time or date, please request cancellation of the first booking. We will issue you with a coupon code for the shipping which you can use towards a second booking.

If you did not follow the step above, we will not be able to assist you with delivery, nor will we refund you.

If permission was granted to The Online Company SA to collect your card, we will collect your card and deliver it to you.

If you opted for Collection, you have to collect it yourself. No one can collect the new card on your behalf.
